You should always read Paul Krugman but his Monday column was a great takedown of the deficit fanatics who want to cut the welfare state in the lame-duck session after the election. The fiscal cliff is really a purely Congressional construct and it’s unfortunate that the Village has decided it’s the next apocalypse.
